How is it that my doctor wants my school records and old psychiatrist record of my autism disorder?

History is important: History is important in terms of diagnosis and course of illness and prognosis0-what we expect to happen in the future-just being a good diligent doctor.

Care: It is very common for psychiatrists to get records from school and previous doctors to get a good sense what kind of symptoms were present earlier, what kind of diagnostic testing was done and what kind of treatments were tried with the responses to them. This is likely for continuity of care and providing you with optimal care. You have the full right to deny furnishing those records.
