A member asked:

How common is tonsil cancer at age 18? i had a sore throat and then noticed my right tonsil bigger than the other. i got over the sore throat but my tonsil is still bigger at the base than the other?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Rare. Differences in the 2 sides is not unusual & reflects past throat infection infection action. A worrisome but uncommon event is an abscess arising in one tonsil. Even this rare event, that causes significant progressive pain is much more common than a tonsil cancer, especially in an 18 yo.
