I started amoxicillin yesterday for a dental abscess and i woke up with some pain, no fever but, i have some pretty large swelling in my lower jawline and right side of chin. do i need to go to the er for this?

You need to go see a dentist for treatment. Antibiotics alone will not resolve your dental issue. If the swelling is that bad, go to the ER for an evaluation and possible drainage.

You can't treat yourself for a large abscess, you need to see an oral surgeon or your dentist right away. An untreated abscess can affect the body with an infection thru out and cause an airway blockage.

It takes 48-72 hours for antibiotic to take hold. Antibiotic will reduce spread of tooth infection, but will not completely cure it. For that you need root canal or extraction. Important that you contact t your prescribing Dentist to report your current status.
