A member asked:

Is it normal for an ultrasound technician to ask you why you are there for an echocardiogram? shouldn't that info be noted in my record by the cardiologist? i found it odd that the technician asked me this prior to my echo?

It is not uncommon that cardiovascular technologists ask that question before the procedure which may hint them to focus in certain views which may benefit the study. Cardiologists do not often put the tentative diagnosis unless they want the technologist emphasize on precise views for certain heart condition such as atrial septal defect, mitral valve regurgitation, etc. Take care.
