Unfortunately such discharges still happen, many times triggered by patients that appear to be acting normally and after having medical emergencies ruled out.

Hospitals in the USA (and likely Jamaica) are not long-term care facilities and are unable to provide chronic supervision. Rehabilitation facilities and nursing homes may be the next appropriate step if further care is needed.

86 year old male issued famotidine oral on discharge from hospital as patient was temporarily intubated. But famotidine falls under Zantac brand name and Zantac had major lawsuits as it was life threatening drug. So is it safe to use famotidine?
