A member asked:

Is out patient surgery clinic just as safe as hospital for tonsillectomy?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes, but...: ...only in appropriately selected patients. For example, patients with obstructive sleep apnea, those with significant medical problems, or controversially, children under 3, may be required to have surgery in the hospital operating room followed by overnight observation prior to discharge. Discuss with your ENT surgeon his/her preferences and criteria for outpatient surgery.
