A member asked:

Hi im 33 years old male , i have been diagnosed with acromegaly 3 years ago,now i receive octeriotide 40mg my echo shows that i have mild aortic regurgitation, and mild tricuspid regurgitation is this normal ? especially the aortic regurgitation?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Acromegaly can cause enlargement of both ventricles and cardiomyopathy. It can also contribute to heart valve abnormalities. Your heart valve abnormalities at this time are very mild. You apparently don't have cardiomyopathy. Effective treatment to lower circulating growth hormone & maintain normal blood pressure will prevent further valvular damage & cardiomyopathy.
