I have had a grade 3 varicocele for a long time (approx 10 years) with each doctor telling me not to worry about it when i have brought it up each time i moved. will this time period have caused lasting damage to fertility?

Not necessarily. Varicocele causes low sperm count but not everyone with it is sterile. Fertility is a complex interplay of sperm- ovum and surroundings. majority of the varicocele pts are asymptomatic. If worried you can get a baseline sperm count and then followup at discretion of your Urologist
