I was just diagnosed as diabetic and today i did ketone urine stick that said i have a trace of ketones. should i start the metformin or ask for a different medication? can you take metformin with a trace of ketones ?

You should follow your doc's direction in taking all meds and not for change of meds as the doc knows what to give you. You can take Metformin as prescribed and disregard trace of proteins.
