Ketonuria: Ketones are made if your diet does not contain enough carbohydrate to supply the body with sugar (glucose) for energy or if your body can't use blood sugar (glucose) properly. Have the baby monitored and tested regularly, as this may be a sign of possible diabetes or issues with carbohydrate metabolism. Best wishes.

Trace ketones: in urine may be useful in determining hydration which may have involve many benign or serious causes. Would recommend blood tests to diagnose more serious concerns like Diabetes Mellitus Type 1. In the near future we will also routinely check Genetic factors to determine the likelihood of developing disease in the future, even without signs/symptoms.
