I was diagnosed with fatty liver. i'm 67 yrs. old. my triglycerides are high at 249. i am trying to change my diet to lose weight, will that be enough to bring the triglycerides down and stop the fatty liver from getting worse?

A low carbohydrate diet, no or little alcohol and 30 minutes of exercise a day will help lower your triglycerides. Eat foods high in omega-3 fatty acids such as mackerel and salmon. Lose weight and avoid trans fat foods. Lower your level to 150 mg/dl so you don't have to be put on medications.

Diet changes with exercise as tolerated that should result in weight loss will help in all departments. If enough or not, time will tell. Controlling all other known conditions, such as diabetes or thyroid should be done concomitantly with the help of your doc.
