My husband just had a stress test for his heart function. the report has a line that reads, the patients perfusion images showed a moderate sized, severe intensity fixed inferior defect that extends from the base to the apex.. laymens terms?

It means he had a past heart attack that left a rather large area of heart muscle damage. How serious it is now or might be in the future depends on his symptoms, examination, EKG, and other studies his doctors might recommend. Undoubtedly they will be arranging to review all this with him (and probably you as well). Good luck.

Consistent with previous heart attack, follow up with heart doc critical at this point to ensure proper management as overall heart will be weakened.
