A member asked:

Ultrasound showed my kidneys to both be just over 10cm long. (10.2 and 10.6) they function fine but as a 27 year old male arent they much smaller than what they should be? no medications?

The normal size of kidneys can vary with age, gender, height, and weight. However, the average kidney length for an adult male is around 11-12 cm (National Kidney Foundation). So a kidney length of just over 10 cm in a 27-year-old male may be considered slightly smaller than average. However, it is important to note that kidney size alone does not necessarily indicate kidney function or health.

What is the indication for your kidney ultrasound? A normal serum creatinine and eGFR do not rule out early chronic kidney disease so you question is valid. However, I won't worry much about this relatively small kidneys (for your age and gender) if you do not carry any risk factor of developing chronic kidney disease. Good luck.

Normal size kidney varies between 10-12 cm So you fall in that category. If kidney funtions are normal- no worries
