A member asked:

I'm afraid to take my asthma meds since one is a steroid and i'm unsure if i actually have asthma (test was 89% but i have some wheezing on exhale and air doesn't leave all the way). could it be wrong? i have untreated sleep apnea too?

Asthma is defined as recurrent wheezing so if this is your first wheezing episode, you may or may not have asthma. A steroid inhaler decreases the inflammation in the airways but very little of that inhaler is absorbed systemically so it doesn’t have the systemic effects that steroids typically have. In order to get the current wheezing episode resolved, you likely need to take the inhalers.
