Prolapse of the mitral valve does predispose you to atrial irritability in the form of premature atrial beats ,runs of supraventricular tachycardia including atrial fibrillation. I'm not sure your mitral valve prolapse is responsible for your symptoms unless you had a bout of sustained atrial irritability during the symptoms. If those symptoms recur in the absence of palpitations,see a neurologist
