Why do my legs itch when i stand still for too long?

If there is no associated rash ,redness or hives with the itching,I don't think release of histamine is causing the itching. Instead I attribute it to congestion in your leg veins caused by prolonged standing. Do you have a family history of varicose veins? This usually causes lower leg aching, but in your case itching seems to occur. Consider wearing support hose when prolonged standing is needed

Likely mild swelling or edema in medical terms stretching the skin, many other causes still possible, not as likely. Talk to your doc in case symptoms worsen.
