A member asked:

I ignored my heel pain for a long time and just recently been seeing a podiatrist who has given me 4 cortisone shots,is it normal for the shots to do nothing for my pain?have i waited to long and the damage is to severe?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

cortisone shots only relieve the symptoms not the cause of the pain. If after two injections , four is not going to make any difference. Multiple cortisone injections over a relatively short period is not recommended. Custom orthotics with appropriate shoes. Stretching the Achilles tendon, are very effective over 90%. surgery is the last option. Over the counter ibuprofen or Aleve.Second opinion
