Had a cortisone injection in my foot for morton's neuroma, and my middle toes are now very swollen in between. is this normal or a shot reaction?

Could be infection: Some swelling after a cortisone injection is normal . If there is redness, heat, tenderness and severe pain, it could indicate there is an infection. If it persists beyond 12-24 hours even after applying ice and elevating the leg, get it looked at by your doctor, or go the the ER.

Often normal: Swelling following an injection of cortisone can be normal reaction to the increase pressure of the injected fluid between the toes. Less often, a mild allergic reaction and even less often an infection.
