A 27-year-old female asked:

Can a cast help me? i have plantar fasciitis in my left heel. my podiatrist first gave me prednisone to try as well as, a cortisone shot in the heel and put me in a boot. i am still currently having issues with my heel, so can i ask for a cast?

Treatment for future: Plantar fasciitis is considered what’s called an overuse injury. That being said it takes repetitive action causing the damage to create the symptoms. To treat this for the long term lthe correct type of support is required in the arch. I usually recommend a custom orthotics for this condition. However sometimes an over-the-counter device may work or supportive shoe. Ibuprofen helps

Injections, NSAID's and support are most important. Night splints can help as well as stretching. IMHO PT is grossly overutilized. Measuring the fascial thickness can help determine futue treatment
