A member asked:

I've tried to use tampons, it won't go in and it hurts very bad. actually, nothing can go in me. and my hymen looks odd(it has absolutely no openings, but it's not imperforate). can i just get a hymenectomy? also when i touch it, it feels very thick?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Some women are born with a hymen that is much thicker than normal and a simple surgical procedure can be done to open/remove it. Tampons are a convenience for many but pads work and if your menses happens without problem there is no urgency to have the procedure. If you are ready to engage in sexual intercourse I would schedule a visit with an OBGYN and discuss your options.
