Hymenectomy: Like any surgery, there is a risk of scar formation, however, when done right, the risks are small. The benefit of the surgery is to open the hymenal ring to allow your menstrual bleeding to emerge unobstructed. The procedure is fairly quick and recovery is swift if you are a healthy person best wishes Dr M
