My son was in a car accident and has a blood clot behind his knee causing pain and cant put much pressure on the leg. his pcp wont put him on blood thinners because he has a ct scan of the brain scheduled for may 10. should we go back to er?

I would go to the ER. He might not be alive May 10. The clot can dislodge and travel to the heart and you might die. They can make their way into your lungs. Go to the ER.

Is it a blood clot in the vein behind the knee or a blood clot in the tissues ?They are two separate things. From the scenario it seems more of a tissue bleed. You should ask the pcp. No doc suspecting a blood clot in the vein/veins will delay anticoagulation. Good luck
