Can a ct scan see if there is a blood clot in leg? if so, will it always show up or do they need to be specifically looking for a blood clot??

Perhaps: A CT scan may show a blood clot. However, the current approach to assessing blood clots is Doppler ultrasound.

Went to ER for chest pain. Ddimer was elevated. CT of chest ruled out blood clot. Didn't scan legs. What causes elevated d dimer if no clot?
