I have esophagitis and if i miss a dose of ppi, i feel it. i do all other lifestyles changes already. why do ppi get such a bad reputation? i may need it for life and im young, what do i do? what about those who take is for decades, what happens?

Medications for gastric reflux can not be taken indefinitely. You need to have this conversation with your gastronenterologist, and make sure you are on the correct (best) regime.

Although it is best to not take a long term PPIs if possible, some patients do require them long-term. Most patients who are on them never have any side effects, although they are certainly possible. You should maximize anti-reflux precautions and discuss your situation with your gastroenterologist. Good luck.
