A member asked:

I was diagnosed with rmsf in 2016, i still have tremors, and headaches. i have become unable to control my bowl and bladder. is this a long term affect of rmsf?

If RMSF refers to Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, this should have been a self-limited, rather reversible infection if properly treated. Now at 7 years, you need to have this fully re-evaluated, as there is likely a co-morbidity that explains your ongoing issues. See a neurologist and uncover what has evolved.

Yes, long term complications including bowel and bladder incontinence have been described in patients with severe acute Rocky Mountain spotted fever infection. However, a different or coexisting, possibly actionable cause for your symptoms has to be ruled out, best to start with a neurologist.
