Hi doctors. my 59 year-old friend fell and had an x-ray on his hip. dr could not tell from x-ray if his hip is broken so he sent him for mri. what is the treatment and recovery if his hip is broken? is it likely broken if x-ray could not determine?

Always a good idea to have a fracture ruled in/or out and MRI will provide the amount of detail required. Treatment and recovery cannot be speculated upon until actual results are known, best would be to discuss them with operating Ortho surgeon in case surgery needed. Without history details and focal exam (hip/back) it remains unclear if hip fractures or not.
