A member asked:

Hello, everytime i go to an orthodontist, they would change the wires of my braces each appointment to make them tighter. but this time, i got rubber bands for the first time but they didnt change my wire. is this normal for them to not change wires?

Ask your dentist who knows you. I do not.

It is perfectly normal to use various methods to move your teeth into their ideal position. Wires, springs, rubber bands are all part of the process. When and how they are used is up to your orthodontist.

Initial wires are very flexible to allow leveling and aligning of your teeth. Then elastics are used to slide teeth along the wires. What you are describing is normal technique. But why did you trust your Orthodontist up until now, and now you are questioning procedure. Best advice, as treatment varies from patient to patient, is to ask your practitioner
