Cholecystectomy is usually done for gallstones in hall bladder or biliary duct, for cholecystitis and polyps. After gall bladder removal, fatty liver is seen in many cases as liver produces more bile. Fatty liver can develop infractions, bile leakage or bleeding. Symptoms like stomach pain, diarrhea, indigestion, jaundice or fever can be seen. Discuss benefits and risk with your surgeon.

It is not uncommon for people with fatty liver to need surgery, including gallbladder surgery. Fatty liver usually does not interfere with being able to proceed. Be sure your surgeon is aware of your fatty liver, and they may want to draw lab tests before the surgery. Good luck.

No place where surgery is performed or an anesthetist will do GB surgery without appropriate blood tests. GB is removed if there is a stone, infection or pain and can be done if you have 'fatty liver'
