Squamous metaplasia is a BENIGN NON-CANCEROUS change of EPITHELIAL cells (bladder surface at trigone in your case) to a SQUAMOUS morphology. It is an abnormal finding & it can be considered a PRE-CANCEROUS lesion in a minority of cases. This finding is not consistent with interstitial cystitis - IC. Please follow with your urologist for a more detailed answer. Take care.

It is a type of cells lining a cavity. Normally in bladder it is transitional cells- so it means that the cells in the area of the trigone have changed. The findings are to be interpreted in context of symptoms. pl ask your Uro
