What is the recommended duration of follow up after discovery of squamous metaplasia in the bladder? the lesion was excised. 1st urologist said only one cystoscopy is needed to monitor cancer risk. 2nd opinion is saying cystos are advised for life?

The opinions differ with the degree of agressiveness and personal experience of a Urologist. . In my opinion at least a follow-up every 6 months with a Urinalysis is needed with a yearly cystoscopy for 3yrs

In my 40s. Recurring RBC in urine for years. Urologist recommended cystoscopy. Is it really necessary at this point since it's been yrs? If it cancer, wouldn't I have known it by now? Can interstitial cystitis cause this? Would prefer to avoid test?
