Had atypical mole removed. came back as melanoma. all other moles on my body look atypical. am i doomed? i cant get all these other atypical moles biopsied? all my moles have small black dots in. havent biopsied any apart from the melanoma one?

Yes, your reaction is totally understandable as far as anxiety when it comes to the multitude of skin lesions you have. It has to do with trusting your treating dermatologist and overall onc team as to using their knowledge and skills in recognizing such lesions early. Try to clarify with your dermatologist as to why he or she picked that specific lesion for biopsy.

Most likely your dermatologist did a careful body-wide exam and evaluated all your moles. If that hasn't been done, arrange it now. Multiple-site melanomas are rare, and a skilled dermatologist's evaluation is very reliable in identifying other lesions that should be biopsied or removed. This may include periodic re-evaluation, maybe once a year or every few months. Good luck.
