Not typical melanom: Itching of skin lesion usually from histamine release. Pain comes from inflammation or another source of nerve irritation. If there is mole on back does it have characteristics of melanoma such as variegated color pattern, nodular central lesion, erythema along margins suggesting transformation. If appearance of melanoma, while symptoms not characteristic, biopsy always required .

See dermatologist: Change in a mole, including itching, pain, and/or bleeding, should prompt a visit to the dermatologist for examination. Sometimes the change can signal cancer, so please do not ignore this.
