A member asked:

Gram stain results included "no growth after 5 days, no bacteria observed" yet "rare white blood cells (predominately lymphocytes or mixed lymphocytes and neutrophils). what might this mean? thank you?

You describe two related but different lab results. the Gram stain showed the rare WBC, but apparently no bacteria were observed, or it would have been mentioned. "No growth..." means no bacteria were detected by culture. Together these results suggest that the site tested is not infected. However, there could be exceptions; discuss with the doctor. Good luck.
