A member asked:

My daughter 15 and i went to the ed for her reoccurring chest pain and high heart rate. they done a urine test and the result said she has ketones, protein and white blood cells in her urine. but no sign of an infection. blood sugar was 5.1?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

The blood sugar was normal. If the urine protein was more than a trace or 1+ positive,I recommend having a 24 hour urine collection measured for total protein as well as an immunofixation to look for chronic kidney disease and other disorders. If the total protein spilled exceeds 150-200 mgs,I recommend consulting a nephrologist for evaluation & advice.
