When certain teeth are out of alignment, one may bite into the tongue often. High stress level or anxiety can cause tongue bite unknowingly. When you bite your tongue during eating or talking, it may be due to imperfect coordination through the pons, part of midbrain. Decreasing distraction will improve the coordination and reduce the tongue bite. Hope it helps.
