A member asked:

I suffer from anxiety, which causes bad sleep occasionally. one of my fears is dementia, that is my health anxiety. im scared the anxiety and bad sleep might bring me dementia. how do i deal with this? very nervous!!!?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Lack of sleep results in temporary cognitive compromise, but full-blown dementia does not develop from this per se. Anxiety and/ or depression have been early signs of Alzheimer's disease. Deal with your anxiety via Cognitive-Behavioral Counseling, and have your doctor design a Sleep Hygiene program for you.
