A member asked:

Hello! recently got an echocardiogram that came back normal. it did have a reading that my rv tissue doppler velocity is 17.2 cm/s. is this normal? if so what does it mean?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

RV tissue velocity means right ventricular tissue velocity. That's the right lower chamber in your heart. That reading measures the strength of your right ventricular heart muscle. The lower limit of normal is 10cm/sec so 17 should be fine. Check with your doctor to discuss the full report so you can understand the value in light of the situation that warranted the echocardiogram.
