Will a neurologist prescribe xanax or any other benzodiazapines for anxiety?

Although many neurologists will refer anxiety cases to a psychiatrist, some will prescribe anti-anxiety medications. Just ask. My preference is to limit the medications to about 3-4 weeks and instead seek cognitive-behavioral therapy.
