A member asked:

Can a chest mri rule out esophageal cancer with reasonable accuracy? i know the gold standard is gastroscopy, but the waiting list is very long with sedation , and i can't do it unsedated. i can afford an mri for reassurance(and get a gastroscopy aft?

NO. Esophageal cancer is very rare at your age. Discuss with your local Dr. why you think you might have it. I am not certain what you mean by sedation.
