I contracted salmonella a few months ago. i'm having several health issues which my doctor thinks salmonella could be the cause. is there a test that can determined if it is salmonella or if it's still in my bloodstream? thank you -jodi?

Nontyphoidal salmonella gastroenteritis in the US is generally a self-limited disease. If you think you are still harboring the bacteria in your GI tract, i.e. a carrier, stool can be cultured for ruling it out. Blood culture is only used in ACUTE illness if indicated when you were infected several months ago. Antibody test for past infection is not available as some other infectious illnesses.
