A member asked:

I have odontogenic maxillary sinusitis. this is a complication from having teeth extractions and dental implant surgery. levaquin didn't work so my doctor prescribed moxifloxacin. i'm feeling better with the moxifloxacin. why didn't levaquin work?

I'm not sure that one is superior to the other as they belong to the same class. Perhaps levaquin, had you stayed on it longer, would also have been effective. I think more clinicians work with levaquin than moxifloxican.

Your diagnosis says that your infected sinuses were caused by your (probably infected) teeth, not by the treatment that was done to help you. As the meds prescribed are very similar, continuing w the Levaquin would have probably produced same effect as changing antibiotics. They are used when more commonly used antibiotics have been ruled out.
