A member asked:

I recently took a gut health test and this result came back: uric acid production pathways - your results indicate high microbial uric acid production. how should i interpret these results/what does this mean for my health?

What you reported sounds like a scam. There is no medical entity consistent with this report. For healthy diet: http://www.choosemyplate.gov/., exercise 30 minutes/day, drink enough water daily so your urine is mostly colorless, have safe sex, no tobacco alcohol weed or street drugs. Get HPV vaccine. Wish you good health!

That you might have low level of beneficial healthy bacteria in your gut which in some people, in the long run cause gout. Best to consult GI to see what can be done to make your GI bacteria better

Over the counter home “gut biome“ tests have not been shown to be useful in truly measuring how are your gut is doing. The gut biome itself is definitely important in how the body functions, but these tests do not guide us in knowing what to recommend. Despite being a gastroenterologist, it is impossible for me to interpret these results in a scientifically useful way. Good luck.
