A member asked:

Is a endometrial biopsy necessary at my age of 46 if i have heavy menses all my life ? are there alternatives to endometrial biopsy?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Transvaginal ultrasound can sometimes be an alternative to monitor the endometrial lining. If you have stopped having periods, officially entered menopause, and then started having heavy periods again, then endometrial biopsy would be necessary to rule out endometrial cancer. This is certainly a discussion to have with your gynecologist
