Im so scared. im finally going to have a mirena iud put in due to heavy periods despite polypectomy hysteroscopy d and c. had two endometrial biopsies and saline sonogram. im hearing such horror stories but i cant sustain heavy periods each minth?

Heavy periods ?'s: Polyp formation, leading to surgical treatments (d&c, hysteroscopy, endo bx's) will be greatly lessened if use of oral bcp's is started, (given no contraindications). If conditions do not improve, consider hysterectomy as last resort, and get a second opinion. Ask your GYN about bcp's , and make sure you maintain punctual use (active pills w/in one hour of previous days pill).

I can do a office hysteroscopy with no anesthesia but people are telling me the biopsy part is the worst. I'm just curious is there a difference in pain scale for endometrial biopsy to a uterine polypectomy with no anesthesia? Is a polypectomy easier?
