A member asked:

Is it ok to have routine bloodwork done two days after a colonoscopy or will the numbers be slightly off from the colonoscopy prep still?

"Routine blood work" with the possible exception of lower levels of sodium and potassium secondary to the effects of the prep, will not be appreciably altered by the prep for colonoscopy.

It is okay to have the blood work. The body has homeostatic control to correct abnormalities that may have been due to the prep however it is okay to let whomever is evaluating the report know about the colonoscopy so it could be interpreted in context. If it is not essential there is nothing as routine bloodwork because without colon prep you could still have abnormalities that is not helpful.
