Good afternoon doctors. i notice that if i have a bowel movement and then take a shower later on in the day, t here is fecal matter that has to be wiped after i come out of the shower. what may be causing this and can i treat it?

You're not wiping adequately after defecating. Try wiping two or three times.

Either you are having some leakage from your rectum or you are not wiping adequately to begin with. Do you always have feces on your underwear? If you continually have leakage, and you are sure you are cleaning yourself well, then you should see your primary care doctor or a gastroenterologist for evaluation. Good luck.
