Have one consultation with a dietitian at your local hospital. You will be told what your ideal weight should be, how many daily calories you should ingest depending upon how physically active you are, and be instructed on a proper low cholesterol, low saturated fat diet. Sample diets are usually available also.

Time to establish with a primary care doc who can follow properly and treat if needed. Among reliable sites cdc.gov, health.Harvard.edu, heart.org, clevelandclinic.org and mayoclinic.org for diet principles. Physical exercise remains critical as well.
