A member asked:

Can a neurosurgeon tell is a tumor is likely cancer during surgery to remove it prior to sending to pathologist? ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

At surgery, an experienced neurosurgeon can guess the tumor type based on location and invasive characteristics but in no fashion can this substitute for histopathological evaluation which provides the exact microscopic diagnosis.
