A single positive PCR test of 3 sites (called a pooled test) cannot tell which site had the virus. HSV1 is the usual cause of oral herpes, but causes many genital infections. Finger alone almost never is the only positive site, so you can be sure you have oral, genital, or both. Discuss with the doctor. If symptoms continue, get retested at all 3 sites. Good luck.
