I am sorry for your loss. My condolences. Was you dad ill. Likely, heart attack. Noise was possibly an audible sound of your day agonizing in discomfort.

It must be difficult for you, however patients that die in their sleep are not believed to suffer and it is considered an ideal way of passing away, not easy to cope for relatives and loved ones. A heart event, such as a paroxysmal arrhythmia in the background of possible sleep apnea is many times the immediate cause and among many possible others.
